Interesting comparison, thanks for the read. Makes realize how my design style is reflective on how clean I like to keep my house.
It’s a great rule of thumb, and always worth keeping in mind – but it sure favors some aesthetics over others. The zen feel is nice and comfortable, but it just isn’t the right feel for every site. Sometimes clutter and clashing are aesthetic choices worth making and it’s worth prioritizing an aesthetic over simplified usability ideas.
Punk clients don’t always pay well, but they’re hell-a fun to work for. We can’t all build IKEA sites.
