I never liked the term DHTML either because it just confused the hell out of me.

Also, are you sure your first script wasn’t along these lines:
function sayHello() { alert(‘Hello World’); }
Congratulations Jeremy, your book is going to speak to many who just haven’t “got it” yet. Your book is definitely going to get paired up with Stuart’s at Amazon as a “buy both of these and get a discount” combo.
