Good article

Seeing as how “the basic URL syntax for S3 is http://<bucket_name>.s3.amazonaws.com/<object_name>” shouldn’t the CNAME point to media.webscalecomputing.info.s3.amazonaws.com rather than simply s3.amazonaws.com ?

e.g.
media.webscalecomputing.info. IN CNAME media.webscalecomputing.info.s3.amazonaws.com.

This is a fantastic article! I had no idea how easy it was to use S3. Thank you!

Greg, no, I have my CNAMEs pointing straight to s3.amazonaws.com. It’s smart enough to parse the requested URL and extract the bucket name itself.

Also check out S3stat to get detailed statistics on your S3 usage

@Jason and Greg – i’ve done them the way greg stated and they worked. I have not tried them the way jason stated. But if they work that way as well – thats even better!
