Wow, what a fantastic article. It’s so important to continually force yourself get back to basics and design, write and code from a customer perspective; something we can all easily lose sight of.

It’s a nice reinforcement of the basics, but the information on image presentation/galleries is surprisingly dated given the book’s recent publishing. Any reason we shouldn’t be looking at the pop-up as dead given all that we have at our disposal with JavaScript/DOM/AJAX?

Thanks for the feedback. As for the technologies mentioned in the article, I must stress the book is not just written for developers or even designers. Plenty of marketing folk, small business owners, and others who want to improve their own site need to be aware that options exist that do not require special scripts. I agree JS makes it easier to administer (thus the reference to several options), but it’s not the only option.

Great interview, I had a chance to see these guys at the Webmaster Jam in Dallas and they all had fantastic sessions about some really great topics. I can’t wait to see what all comes out of Sidebar.
