Here is a great article by Steve Outing that details how the news industry deals with online publication: "News Sites Repeat Mistakes Of the Past" Speaking for myself, I have had the luxary to meet with some of the people who helped build Slashdot.org (Brian Aker and Tim Lord) and Kuro5hin (Rusty Foster) and I must say that they have the right concept.
