Ulises Ali Mejias has published A del.icio.us study. This is a mini-ethnography study of social practices in a distributed classification community (AKA free tagging, open tagging, ethnoclassification, folksonomy, or faceted hierarchy). I have been using Flickr since Christmas and del.icio.us for even longer. I have noticed some things that lead me to conclude that these particular systems are helpful for finding the information they provide, but the information they provide isn't in itself very resourceful.
