Just hours ago Google has launched the beta version of Google Maps. This is prehaps one of the most streamlined and efficent mapping tools out there. I have already taken it to task to locate WiFi hot spots, pizza joints and apartments within the area. [from A Whole Lotta Nothing]

I agree - it is very impressive. I think it makes Amazon's A9 Yellow Pages with block view photos look silly.
There's been a lot of hoopla surrounding the beta launch of Google Maps, but don't discount some other web based maps, like Map24 which offers an extremely fluid Java based interface and map.search.ch, a highly accurate detailed road + satellite map of Switzerland, both of which have certain advantages over Google Maps. There's no doubt Google will step up to the plate, but for the moment they should be looking at both of these innovative web maps for an even more fluid and informative user experience.
It is a good beta ( they do beta's well ) and the interface is clean, however your sure to get lost if you use Opera browsers. It simply won't take you anywhere :)
Its AWESOME. I just got it in a fwd ed mail frm my friend n its so great. mapquest n yahoo maps n mappoint n wht not is gonna go bankrupt real soon. I can see that rite away :D
