The Video iPod

So I am sitting in the car on our way back from lunch yesterday. I look over at Lee and say, "You know, it's only a matter of time before there is a Video Pod." ...I just had no idea that it was going to be hours, I was thinking more like months. This AM I loaded up Gizmodo to find a large photo of the iPod Video. The aspect ratio of this device seems to confirm my theory. To tie this post back into the Web, once we have video that can be distributed through iPods, do you think video casting (or video blogging, however you want to describe it) will finally take off?

That's not a real photo. That's a render from Maya or Maxx... Anybody that doesn't think that's possible should check out the spymac.com galleries.

That thing looks entirely fake...

I agree, it is fake. But you realize it really is only a matter of time.

I think Apple would not build a video iPod that big. My guess is Apple will enable video functionality on the iPod eventually. Not for video on-the-go but for bringing your downloaded movies on the PC/Mac to the TV/Beamer in your living room. All you need is a simple cable that connects your iPod to the TV. Of course it will be possible to play videos on-the-go but most important, it will allow you to bring movies bought from Apples Online Store to devices with big screens. No one enjoys movies on his notebook.

Also, their past iPod branding suggests that "Video" would be lowercase i.e. "iPod video", just like iPod mini and iPod shuffle. Of course this is fake, and I think those who think the closest Apple would come to a portable video player would be to compliment a home media center are right. A means to carry around you video collection and hook it to any old TV and watch your stuff. That would be great for those traveling, like say hook into a hotel room TV, etc.

Just a comment for everyone who gets wrapped up in the belief that Apple is going to spill the beans on every product and somehow it will be online at some point... Look hard at these pictures... the reflection in the real ipod isnt even possible. The shadows are completely graded, and it isnt even symmetric. Not very Apple like. Keep in mind Apple has its butt so tight it makes George Lucas look like a pirated DVD promotion... They have alot of product, and they usually succeed in suprising us as long as they decide too. If it leaks it shows up on THEIR website the next day to... the way it should be. They do a good job of playing off the fool. That thinks they'll get something on forum.newapplestuffpics.net 7 weeks before Jobs hints at it. If you insist though, look at the pics twice before you post em and give it a good effort... white and shiny wont cut it.

Rumers are that apple is revealing a new Ipod video. The rumors are that it is a lot like the 60gig ipod photo, but a few milimeters thiner. Also it has a clickwheel like the new ipod nanos. This means it is smaller, (like the photo). Also Itunes has been gearing up for a major overhaul of their video downloads. And finnallt apple is planning a press conference on Oct. 12. The invitation simply says "One More Thing......" (check the pic out at appleinsider.com) I personaly believe that they will unveil the new ipod there. This is perfect timing for the end of the quarted. Soooooo maybee this pic wasn't real, but it will be pretty soon!!! (hopefully)
