Just got done introducing Lee LeFever of Common Craft who is doing a talk about How Blogs and Mobile are Changing World Travel. He's using an analogy of the lewis & Clark expidition to relate that to traveling in modern times. Lots of cool technology eas used; sub compact laptop, mobile phone, compact camera, ..but most of all, blogging tools and web services. A very cool presentation about traveling abroad and how technolgy and people connect.

Imagine, Lewis & Clark spent 2 years exploring the US and trying to communicate their findings back to the rest of the world. Now just 200 years later (approximately 3 lifetimes) anyone can zoom in on any part of the earth right in their web browser with Google Earth, Virtual Earth, etc. What will we be doing in 2207? Teleportation?!
Joel: It's amazing on how far we have come.. but I think it's more of a matter of seeing the road ahead.. seeing what could be possible. 2207 would be totally cool, but I am seeing 2008 as pretty damn exciting as well given Mobile GPS, HDTV and digital video, integrated systems, APIs and more.
